GREAT CARIBBEAN NOVELS

Caribbean people have created, over many years, a significant repertoire of literature & poetry, history from a non-European perspective, culture & art, science and academic writing. The selection we introduce here contains books written by Caribbean people primarily, but includes other writers on Caribbean style, culture and people. Most of selection will be Caribbean novels and thus the title. However, from time to time we will slip in others that are so persuasive that they can’t escape notice.

I love Caribbean novels. A few years ago, I suddenly noticed that we were producing a significant number of new writers with fresh material and brilliant stories. They appeal to me because as a Caribbean person I can see myself in the dialogue. I can also imagine that non-Caribbean reader will experience a new vision of living and also a new and exciting lingo. Caribbean story telling tends to be bold and authentic.
